In Mordovia has appeared the museum of valenki

The museum-exhibition center of valenki has been opened in village Urusovo of Ardatovskogo area of Mordovia.

As have been informed in the State Committee on a national policy of republic, on creation of museum fund was required about one year. During this time employees of a museum selected the most interesting and unusual copies of valenki in families of local residents.

«Now in a museum are submitted 90 pairs of valenki. Visitors can see this Russian traditional winter footwear with a national ornament, original inscriptions. Some copies is decorated with tapes and beads», - has told the representative of the State Committee.

« In a museum it is also possible to see the process of exhibits’ manufacturing. Here are submitted not only valenki, but also the equipment for it’s manufacturing which is constantly used in work », - has noted the interlocutor of agency.

As he said in the future it is planned to open near to the museum small industrial shop on manufacturing valenki to order, "Interfax - Ukraine" transfers.

« Visitors can choose an inscription or figure which will decorate their valenki themselves. Now the price for products of Mordovian skilled craftsman changes from 300 up to 700 rubles », - has told the representative of the State Committee.

As he said, local masters transfer art of valenki’s manufacturing from generation to generation. Now in Urusovo there is practically no family where would not own a secret of winter footwear felting.
