Y-3: running shoes for the Samurai

The union of well-known Japanese designer Jodzhi Jamamoto and company Adidas has resulted to occurrence of a new segment in the market. And appeared rather successful: during The Week of High Fashion in Paris Jamamoto and Adidas have informed about prolongation of cooperation till 2010. In 2002 Jodzhi Jamamoto became creative director of new branch of company Adidas – Sport Style. For the first time man's and female collections Y-3 has been submitted in October, 2002.

Joint project of Jamamoto and Adidas became a kind of long cooperation product of which become each season some new collections of stylish sports footwear. In opinion of the designer it is difficult to find good sportswear and footwear for daily life. « For me Adidas – a powerful source of inspiration. Cooperation with this company enriches my creative life », – Jamamoto told us.

One of logos of Jodzhi Jamamoto – black color. So it is no wonder, that the most part of his models – black. By the way, when the designer has released the collection for the first time, its admirers began to name crows’ flight.

But for creation of a collection autumn-winter – 2005 Jodzhi was inspired by … revolutionary Russia. « The snow-covered Russia during revolution and spiritual shocks: intelligent elegance, restraint, hopes for the light future and even a certain avant-guard. But undoubtedly it’s Russian avant-guard! » – in such way has characterized this collection designer himself.

For creation of the collection of a season autumn-winter 2006/2007 Jamamoto scooped inspiration in the world of fauna: for example, man's running shoes are decorated with heads of wild animals.

« Y-3 is an innovational synthesis of sports functionality and elevated style. We are very glad to continue our interesting and very successful cooperation on a long-term basis », – has emphasized creative director of brand Adidas Herman Daininger.

Today you can buy production of Y-3 in 500 shops worldwide. Collections are submitted in monobrand and multibrand boutiques and, certainly, in main shop of Y-3 in Tokyo. All developments Adidas Sport Style from Jamamoto are placed on web - page of brand Y-3 which is a masterpiece of the modern art in itself. The portal which has received the award on the Cannes festival of advertising, name the first interactive fashion-site.
